چکیده

Increasing interest in multiple strain Bacillus probiotics and parietal yeast fractions as feed ingredients for egg laying hen diets has also led to food safety questions. This study was undertaken evaluate the ability of these products reduce Salmonella Enteritidis colonization. Sixty Hy-Line hens aged 56 weeks were placed individual cages fed a mash diet containing one following treatments, control, spp. probiotic, cell wall, or combination wall probiotic. At 60 age all challenged orally with 7 x 107 CFU/bird Enteritidis. 61 age, birds humanely euthanized, by cervical dislocation ceca aseptically removed cultured S. prevalence number Most Probable Number method. There no significant difference between control any treatments. The had 4.37 log10 MPN/g detected ceca. Probiotic group 2.96 MPN/g, reduction 1.41(p<0.05) 2.89 1.48 (p<0.05). 3.60 numerical 0.78 (p=0.14). probiotic groups significantly reduced amount hens.

Performance and Physiological Responses of Salmonella Enteritidis Challenged Broilers Fed Diets Containing Antibiotic, Probiotic and Aromabiotic

The problems of salmonella zoonosis and antibiotic resistance leading to drop in productivity and performance in poultry and the negative effects on public health is persistent especially in third world countries. This study was designed to evaluate the performance and physiological responses of Salmonella enteritidis challenged broilers fed diets containing antibiotic, probiotic and aromabioti...

Salmonella detection in probiotic products.

The presence of large amounts of probiotic bacteria in a sample may interfere with the detection of undesirable microorganisms. To illustrate this, infant formula with various strains of probiotic bacteria and the corresponding probiotic culture powders and premixes were artificially contaminated with low levels of Salmonella. Recovery of Salmonella was generally very poor when the conventional...

Application of bacteriophages to control Salmonella Enteritidis in raw eggs

Background: Salmonella, a bacterial genus of more than 2500 serotypes is considered as the most significant foodborne pathogen causing infections in humans and animals. Increased antimicrobial resistance and persistence of antimicrobial residues in food matrices warrants the need for alternative infection management strategies. Aims: The present study aimed to isolate and evaluate the lytic act...

Molting in Salmonella enteritidis-challenged laying hens fed alfalfa crumbles. I. Salmonella enteritidis colonization and virulence gene hilA response.

The objectives of this study were to enumerate Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis colonization in fecal, cecal, and internal organs, and to compare the level of virulence gene expression (hilA) of experimentally challenged laying hens fed different dietary molt-induction regimens. Twelve Salmonella-free Single Comb Leghorn hens (>50 wk old) hens were randomly assigned to each of 6 treatmen...
